Cygames, Inc. and UCSD Announce Joint Research Initiative

The Center for Research in Entertainment and Learning (CREL) at the University of California San Diego (UCSD) and Cygames announced today that they have established a memorandum of understanding on joint research.

On November 9, 2017, Eitoshi Ashihara (Chief Technology Officer, Cygames) and Prof. Shuichi Kurabayashi (Director, Cygames Research) visited UCSD. There they exchanged mementos and established a memorandum of understanding with Prof. Shlomo Dubnov, the director of CREL, and Prof. Ramesh Rao, the director of the Qualcomm Institute, a public-private joint research facility.

This memorandum was established with the goal of offering innovative content to entertain game players worldwide. The initiative will see Cygames Research and CREL collaborate to create AI technologies that can be incorporated into Cygames’s game titles. As such, they will engage in joint research focusing on mixed reality technologies that utilize smartphones and deep learning technologies for CG/sound media.
