Ranking for Everyone: A Personalized Recommendation Method for Ranking Criterion with Considering Each Player’s Style
This invention relates to a ranking criterion management method that enables social game players to select, among various ranking criteria, ranking criteria in which the players are expected to be ranked higher according to their play styles. In social games, rankings in which players compete with each other are important factors that significantly contribute to the excitement of the games. In addition, rankings are also important factors in terms of revenue because an essential feeling of wishing to beat other players motivates players to spend more money in games. However, in current social games, only rankings such as a daily ranking and an overall ranking that use a single criterion are provided. Thus, players who are ranked higher in the rankings include only players who spend lots of money in the games to get strong items or characters, or hard gamers who spend most of their time playing games. Therefore, casual gamers are not conscious about rankings, and ranking functions neither contribute to improve "the excitement of the games", nor to increase revenue. This invention realizes a new ranking system that increases the variety of ranking criteria and enables any players to participate in rankings by automatically calculating the relevance between a play style of each player and each of various ranking criteria and providing a function for searching and recommending ranking criteria based on the relevance. The technical feature of this system consists in a function for calculating a predicted rank for the case where a player participates in a ranking and sorting ranking criteria in descending order of possibility to be ranked higher, in order to present ranking criteria that suit the play style of each player. By automatically recommending, for example, the top five items among the sorted ranking criteria as a result of "automatic selection" to the player, the player can participate in rankings in which he/she can demonstrate his/her competitiveness without checking all of the numerous ranking criteria.
